Cloud

The Cloud is designed to be the last mattress you buy. We match the springs to your body weight so it feels right from night one, and every component unzips and swaps out — so if your body changes, the mattress changes with you. Two layers of microsprings (3,200 on a queen) let your shoulders and hips sink in without the rest of the mattress caving. 69% of our customers choose the Cloud.
Are you between 50kgs and 70kgs? This should work for you.

Inside the Cloud

Natural latex

Natural latex

Built to outlast foam

5cm of GOLS-certified natural latex (95% organic). Responsive and bouncy, not the slow sinking of memory foam. Lasts 3–4x longer than foam. Only 5cm on top of springs means far less heat retention than all-foam mattresses. Naturally dust mite resistant.
Dual microsprings

Dual microsprings

Maximum pressure relief

Two layers of individually pocketed microsprings (3,200 on a queen). The latex moulds to the microsprings. The microsprings mould to the pocket springs. Your shoulders and hips sink in where they need to. That's why side sleepers love the Cloud. This is what separates it from the Aurora (1 layer) and Cooper (none).
Honeycomb pocket springs

Honeycomb pocket springs

Matched to your body weight

986 pocket springs (queen) arranged in a honeycomb pattern. That's 28% more than the industry standard 768. This is what the high-end makers do: Hastens, Vispring, Savoir. More springs means more elasticity and better contouring. Each unit is calibrated to your body weight.
Tencel cover

Tencel cover

Full access to every component

Eucalyptus-based Tencel (not polyester) with 1.5cm of quilted polyfoam. It stretches so it doesn't fight the springs and latex underneath. Fully zippered so you can access, adjust, or replace any component yourself.

Why two layers of microsprings

I built the Cloud for side sleepers and anyone who needs their shoulders and hips to properly sink in. Most mattresses have one spring system. The Cloud has three: two layers of microsprings on top, and body-weight matched pocket springs underneath.

The top microspring layer handles pressure relief. When you lie on your side, it lets your shoulder and hip sink in so your spine stays straight. The second layer underneath it handles contouring. It follows the shape of your lower back and fills the gap that a single layer would miss.

One thicker layer can't do both jobs. A thick layer soft enough for your shoulder would sag under your hips. Two thinner layers, each doing their own job, solve the problem without compromise. That's 3,200 springs on a queen, each moving independently.

We're the only Australian mattress we know of that uses dual microspring layers. Most don't use microsprings at all.

“I was using the Koala queen size mattress supplied. Due to the hardness of the foam my back developed a pain which I had never experienced before. I have since bought the Cloud Latex Queen from Ausbeds. The pain has completely vanished.”

Who the Cloud is for

I get asked this a lot. The short answer: if you're a side sleeper, the Cloud is probably your best bet. The double layer of microsprings lets your shoulders and hips sink in where they need to, without the whole mattress caving.

If you're between 50kg and 70kg, start at Level 6 (Medium). That's where about 82% of people in that bracket end up staying. If you're 70 to 90kg, Level 9. Over 90kg, Level 12. The springs are calibrated to your body weight, not some generic “medium firm” label that means nothing.

Couples do well on the Cloud, too, as long as you're within about 40kg of each other. If the gap is bigger than that, we do a half-half configuration where each side has different springs. Come visit us in Marrickville, and we'll set it up for you.

Your Weight Firmness Cloud Level
Under 50kg Softer 3
50–70kg Medium 6
70–90kg Firmer 9
90–110kg Very Firm 12
Over 110kg Super Firm 15

On the edge between two brackets? Go firmer. Lighter always feels like sinking. You get 2 free component swaps during your 7-month trial to fine-tune. See our firmness guide for more details.

“My partner and I both had back and neck pain and realised it may be our old mattress. We ended up choosing the Cloud Latex Queen. A few weeks later our back and neck pains are pretty much gone and we are both getting a far better sleep!”

Who it's not for

If you sleep on your stomach and prefer a very direct, firm feel, check out the Cooper first. No microsprings, so you're lying closer to the pocket springs. Less cushioning, more feedback. Some people prefer that.

If you want the absolute firmest option we make, the Cloud isn't it. The Cloud starts at Level 2 (our softest). For Level 8 and above without microsprings, the Cooper is the right pick.

If budget matters, the Cooper uses the same springs, same latex, same cover. The only difference is microspring layers. It's $1,000 less for a queen. And if you change your mind later, you can add microspring layers yourself for $500 each. That's the whole point of modular.

What customers say about the Cloud

I've had back pain for almost 10 years. Every single morning I wake up with pain. Ausbeds is the first mattress I've consistently slept on without having that pain.

Alexander K., purchased a Cloud, reviewed on ProductReview

As a hot sleeper, the Cloud range is not a 'hot' bed. I get a brilliant night's sleep.

Dean W., Cloud 6 (Medium), switched from memory foam

The result is the first truly satisfactory mattress we have experienced in 50+ years. Getting the right spring rate for bodyweight is essential, but no other manufacturer seems to realize this.

What actually goes in

Cloud vs a typical mattress

Every mattress company says theirs is the best. Here's what actually separates the Cloud from what you'll find at most retailers.

Cloud

Typical mattress

Natural Dunlop latex
97% tree sap. Bouncy, breathable, and it doesn't break down like foam.

Synthetic foam
Tends to trap heat and loses its bounce over time.

3,200 micro springs
Two layers (Queen) that contour independently to your shoulders, hips, and lower back.

Springs + glued foam
Even with pocket springs, the glued foam layers compress over time — less targeted pressure relief as the bed ages.

Modular design + free swaps
We match spring tension to your weight. Not right? We send new components for free during your 7-month trial. No need to return the whole bed.

Glued together
Pick wrong and you're returning the whole mattress. It's a hassle, and most companies make you wait 30 days first.
