Slimline Mattress Base
Built to last
Get your foundation right!
I've seen it too many times. Someone spends good money on a mattress and puts it on a base that ruins it. Your mattress foundation determines how well your mattress performs. Flexible slats bend under your body weight, particularly around your hips, which is your heaviest area, creating sag, uneven support and pressure points that people mistakenly blame on the mattress itself. The more they flex, the softer your sleeping surface becomes, undermining everything your mattress is designed to do. These flexible slats are popular because they're cheap to manufacture and ship, but they sabotage even premium mattresses. Solid wood slats provide the dead-flat, rigid surface your mattress needs to function properly. A $500 mattress on solid slats will outperform a $3,000 mattress on flexible ones. Get the foundation right first!
Who the base is for
Anyone buying an Ausbeds mattress whose current bed frame has flexible slats. If your slats bend when you press them, your mattress is fighting your base every night. The Slimline Base gives you solid pine slats, the right height, and a surface that lets your mattress do its job properly.
Who doesn't need it
If you already have a bed frame with solid, rigid slats or a flat platform base, you don't need ours. Our mattresses work on any solid, flat surface, including adjustable bed bases. The Slimline Base is for people whose current setup is the problem, not an add-on everyone needs.
Key things to remember
Flexible slats create sag
Solid pine prevents flex
Pocket springs need stability
Foundation matters most
